Slice (drink)

1984 — 2009
murdered Reported · 2009

“Sliced from the lineup in 2009, but the peel kept coming back.”

Slice arrived in 1984 as PepsiCo's fruit-flavored soft drink line, created to replace the retiring Teem brand. It offered a colorful spread of fruit flavors at a time when a soda shelf slot was something to be fought over. For a quarter century it poured quietly and reliably into American fridges, earning the kind of loyalty that only unglamorous favorites collect.

PepsiCo discontinued Slice in North America in the late 2000s, but the brand proved hard to keep down. It was reintroduced in India in 2008 as Tropicana Slice, then relaunched in the US and Canada as sparkling water under New Slice Ventures in 2018. In 2025, Suja Life acquired the name and brought Slice back yet again as a prebiotic soda — proof that fans never quite let go.
