MacProject arrived in 1984 alongside the very first Macintosh systems, one of the first major business tools for the original Mac. It let users calculate the critical path to completion and estimate costs in both money and time. When deadlines slipped or resources changed, it recalculated everything automatically, which is exactly what you want from software that manages your chaos.
It was the evolution of LisaProject, Apple's earlier project management package for the Apple Lisa, carrying that lineage through to its own quiet end in 1997. Thirteen years is a long life in software years. Somewhere, a critical path is still being walked without it.
