“It split your screen, tamed your notifications, and never asked for thanks”
“An iPhone that never asked for your phone number, and we loved it for that.”
The iPod Touch was Apple's iOS-based pocket wonder: a portable media player, handheld gaming device, camera, web browser, and messaging machine all behind one touchscreen. Nearly identical in design to the iPhone, it could run most App Store apps but connected only through Wi-Fi, no cellular modem required. Introduced in September 2007, it sold around 100 million units by May 2013.
The seventh-generation model arrived on May 28, 2019, but by then the iPod Touch was the last survivor of Apple's iPod line, its siblings already discontinued. When it finally went too, an entire era of music in your pocket quietly closed. It left behind a hundred million playlists and the memory of a phone without the phone part.
