Windows Embedded Industry — born earlier as Windows Embedded POSReady and WEPOS — was the unglamorous hero inside the machines we actually touch: cash registers, ATMs, and self-service checkouts. Built on Windows NT as part of the Windows Embedded family, it did its work without ever asking for credit. You probably used it dozens of times and never knew its name.
