“A sweet little OS that kept your battery alive longer than most of us keep New Years resolutions.”
“35 candles, six months of cake — Mario left the party early, as promised.”
Super Mario 3D All-Stars was a Nintendo Switch compilation released September 18, 2020 to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Super Mario series, bundling high-definition ports of Super Mario 64 (1996), Super Mario Sunshine (2002), and Super Mario Galaxy (2007). Fans got three beloved adventures in one package, and reviewers praised the games themselves, the technical improvements, and the controls.
It was, however, a limited-time offering: Nintendo discontinued it and removed it from the eShop on March 31, 2021, drawing criticism for the time-limited release, the bare presentation, the lack of extra content, and the absence of Super Mario Galaxy 2. Still, it sold more than 9 million copies by March 2021, making it one of 2020's best-selling games and the 23rd-best-selling Switch game ever.
