Google Reader
“It fed us the internet one feed at a time, until Google decided we were full.”
“Tagged, shared, and fondly remembered — the book club of bookmarks, adjourned.”
My Web, Yahoo!'s social bookmarking service launched in June 2005, let you save pages with descriptions and tags, keeping them private, sharing with chosen contacts, or opening them to the world. Friends could browse each other's tags, turning bookmarking into a quiet form of social discovery.
In late 2006, Yahoo! rolled out an improved Yahoo! Bookmarks with tagging and nudged My Web users over. In February 2009 the end was announced, and on March 18, 2009 My Web closed — its bookmarks carried into Yahoo! Bookmarks, with Delicious offered as the new home for the social bookmarking faithful.
