Motorola Triumph

2011 — Mar 2013
retired Confirmed · Mar 2013

“It lived up to its name, then quietly rode off into the prepaid sunset.”

Launched in the summer of 2011, the Motorola Triumph was an Android-powered smartphone sold exclusively through Virgin Mobile USA, and the first Motorola-branded device the carrier ever offered. With a 4.1-inch touchscreen, a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, a 5-megapixel camera shooting 720p video, and Android 2.2 Froyo — mercifully free of MOTOBLUR — it gave prepaid customers a taste of flagship living without the flags

Announced at a joint Sprint Nextel and Motorola event in New York City, it was the third Android device to join Virgin Mobile's lineup, after the Samsung Intercept and LG Optimus V, and the first to ship with the Virgin Mobile Live 2.0 app. By March 2013 it had quietly retired, leaving behind fond memories for the budget-minded fans who called it their first real smartphone.
