“No screws, no fuss, no fanfare — it just snapped together and quietly left”
“Low Cost, Low Color, full heart — the Mac that let everyone in.”
The Macintosh LC was Apple's bid to bring color to the people: the name stood for Low Cost, or Low-cost Color, and it delivered on both. Launched in October 1990, it was the first affordable color Macintosh for the entry-level consumer.
After roughly a year and a half on shelves, Apple discontinued it in March 1992. It didn't linger or fade awkwardly — it did its job, opened the color Mac door for everyday folks, and bowed out.
