Apple Thunderbolt Display
“One cable, one gorgeous panel, and six years of staring past your work at your wallpaper.”
“The best-selling iPhone ever — it grew up, got bigger, and so did we”
The iPhone 6 arrived on September 19, 2014, and brought with it something people had been asking for all along: bigger screens. The 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch Plus models, faster processor, upgraded cameras, and NFC-based mobile payments won over critics, who praised the redesign, battery life, and price point. It sold extremely well — the best-selling iPhone model ever and the most successful smartphone to that point.
By September 2015 the iPhone 6s had taken the flagship spot, and on September 7, 2016, the 6 was quietly retired. Not every detail aged well — the antenna lines and the standard model's screen resolution drew some grumbles — but the legacy was secure: the phone that proved bigger was better, and then stepped aside.
