ImageWriter

“It dot-matrixed its heart out so your Mac could be heard.”

The ImageWriter was a line of dot matrix printers made by Apple Computer, designed to work with Apple's entire line of computers. Three different models were introduced over the years, and they earned a devoted following. For Apple II and Mac owners, it was the machine that finally put their work on paper.

The line was discontinued in 1985, retiring quietly after years of steady printing. It left behind the memory of that familiar buzz and hum as homework, newsletters, and half-finished BASIC programs emerged line by line. Few peripherals ever felt so much a part of the family.
