Air Warrior (video game)
“Hundreds of pilots at a time, and every flight sim since owes it a wingtip salute.”
“All gold inside and out — gone in 1959, still shining in every memory.”
The Gibson ES-295 arrived in May 1952 as the fancier sibling of the ES-175, wearing Gibson's gleaming Bullion Gold finish like it had somewhere to be. Same measurements as its more modest brother, but with a combination long trapeze bridge and bail tailpiece with wrap-over bridge that made it unmistakable. People loved it for the same reason they love anyone who dresses up: it brought occasion to every gig.
Production ended in 1959, closing a seven-year run that began with just two prototypes in May 1952. The ES-175 carried on, but the gold one — the showboat, the one that caught the light — quietly retired. Some guitars are meant to be workhorses; the ES-295 was meant to be remembered.
