Yeezy was the collaboration between Kanye West and Adidas that turned limited-edition sneakers into cultural currency. From the Boost 750 in February 2015, it grew into a full wardrobe of colorways, track pants, slides and more. Forbes called its rise one of the great retail stories of the century, and the brand inspired countless imitators.
In October 2022, Adidas ended the partnership with immediate effect after West, on a podcast, declared himself too big to drop amid a tirade of antisemitic remarks. He was wrong about that. What remains is the sneakers people still love, and the lesson that no brand is bigger than the people selling it.
