“The table talk goes quiet, but the ambassador's seat is still saved.”
“The quiet workhorse that kept the servers humming while Windows 95 stole the spotlight”
Released on May 30, 1995, Windows NT 3.51 was Microsoft's third major release of the Windows NT operating system, built for data servers and personal workstations. Its most significant enhancement was client/server support for interoperating with Windows 95, which arrived just three months later. It was the reliable sibling in the family while the flashier Windows 95 got all the party invitations.
Both editions were succeeded by Windows NT 4.0 Workstation and Server, released a year later. Mainstream support for the Workstation edition ended December 31, 2000, with extended support ending December 31, 2001, while Server's mainstream support ended September 30, 2000, followed by extended support on September 30, 2002. It bowed out on schedule, support checks cashed in full.
