The Nokia Lumia was a line of smartphones launched on 26 October 2011, born of a long-term partnership between Nokia and Microsoft, running the Windows Phone operating system (and later Windows 10 Mobile). Its name comes from the partitive plural of the Finnish word lumi, meaning snow, and it debuted with the Lumia 800 and 710. Fans loved its range: the flagship Lumia 900 pushed hard in the US with AT&T in April 2012
The line continued under Microsoft Mobile after 2014, later rebranded as Microsoft Lumia, even producing one tablet, the Lumia 2520, running Windows RT, and the phablet-style Lumia 1520. It was discontinued in October 2017. What it left behind was a reputation for bold design and camera experiments that made a whole operating system feel like it had a personality.
